1. What TipEasy does

TipEasy lets service workers (“Workers”) receive cashless gratuities. A customer (“Tipper”) scans a Worker’s QR code or opens their tipping link, chooses an amount, and pays through our third-party payment provider. The tip is routed to the Worker by electronic funds transfer (EFT) to their bank account. TipEasy facilitates the connection and the payment flow — it is not a party to the gratuity itself.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to use TipEasy. By using the platform you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are entitled to use any bank account or payment method you submit.

3. Worker accounts

• You sign in with your cellphone number and a one-time code we send you by SMS. You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate and for keeping your phone number and any device that receives these codes secure — anyone who can receive your SMS code can access your account.
• You are responsible for providing correct payout details (your bank account details). We are not liable for funds misdirected because of incorrect details you supply.
• You agree to provide accurate identity information and consent to us verifying your identity for fraud-prevention purposes. You must not misrepresent your identity or solicit tips through misleading means.
• You agree to use the platform lawfully.

4. Payments and payouts

Tips are processed and settled by our third-party payment provider (Ozow), and routed to the Worker by electronic funds transfer (EFT) to their bank account. TipEasy does not hold, store or have access to tip funds, and never takes custody of your money. Payment processing is subject to the payment provider’s terms, processing times and verification requirements.

Tips are voluntary gratuities. Once a tip has been authorised and processed it is generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where a clear payment error has occurred. Any dispute about a specific payment may also be subject to the payment provider’s processes.

5. Fees

Any platform or processing fees that apply will be disclosed to you before a transaction is completed. By proceeding with a payment you agree to the fees shown at that time. Where offered, a Tipper may choose to add the fees on top of the tip so that the Worker receives the full tip amount; the total to be paid is always shown before payment.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any unlawful, fraudulent or abusive purpose.
• Interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform or its systems.
• Use the platform to launder money or to facilitate any prohibited transaction.
• Copy, modify or reverse-engineer any part of the platform except as permitted by law.

7. Intellectual property

The TipEasy name, logo, software and content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the platform for its intended purpose. No other rights are granted.

8. Availability

We aim to keep TipEasy available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the platform at any time.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TipEasy is provided “as is” and “as available”. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from the acts or omissions of the payment provider, your bank, or any third party. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to TipEasy if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or to protect the platform and its users. You may stop using TipEasy at any time.

11. Privacy

Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy and POPIA Notice, which form part of these Terms.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of TipEasy after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you submit to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
